Advisers to President Trump have discussed the possibility of giving Mayor Eric Adams of New York City a position in the administration as a way to clear the field in November’s mayoral election and damage the chances of the Democratic front-runner, Zohran Mamdani, according to three people with knowledge of the discussions.

The talks have also involved finding a possible place in the administration for the Republican candidate, Curtis Sliwa.

The goal, the people said, would be to give former Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo a better chance of defeating Mr. Mamdani in November’s general election.

Gee, Democrats, have you noticed how petrified Republicans are of you taking a populist turn?

Not really. I’ve noticed old NY Dems being petrified of it.

Honestly, “Within Mr. Trump’s orbit” seems to be doing a LOT of lifting for the NYT here. There really isn’t any reporting as such, other than somebody said, and trump’s “orbit”. Which, for a demented rapist, isn’t a lot of solidity to speculate on.

But, the DNC isn’t answering their phone these days so - sure, why not.

Lmao, Trump backing Cuomo is the worst thing that could ever happen for him. Any Jewish DNC on the fence about Mamdani certainly won’t side with the fascists who waved seig heils around during the campaign.

Idk, have you seen the DNC? I agree it should be an obvious, easy win, but these people are truly morons and power hungry. They’ll sell their literal soles for a little extra scratch.

It almost reminds me of my two favorite supreme court cases…

Washington State passed a law outlawing physician assisted suicide. It was challenged, went all the way to the Supreme Court who ruled (paraphrasing) “States rights, they can outlaw it if they want to.”

Following that, Oregon passed a law, TWICE, ALLOWING physician assisted suicide. It was also challenged and went all the way to the Supreme Court who ruled again (paraphrasing) “Bitch we told you once already ‘States Rights’.”

The trick of the US legal system is that if you can find circuit and appellate courts to rule in your favor, you can make litigants spend a whole lot of money politely asking the SCOTUS to repeat themselves. That is - often enough - a means of shaping domestic policy.

Pretty smug for a guy who went from the overwhelming favorite to getting stomped in a few weeks.

I’m looking forward to seeing him get stomped again. Maybe he’ll get stomped even harder, since he’s conspiring with Trump.
