Among its goals, the US-Israel war on Iran aims to bury Palestinian self-determination. Now more than ever, a one-state framework is the only defence against surrender
But of course! The only thing that’s been keeping the Palestinians from taking matters into their own hands (successfully) is a lack of agreement that they should retake/annex the entire territority.
Am I the only one who believes Awad has just published the intellectual spark needed to solve this issue once and for all?
Getting past the sarcasm, what is your solution? I think a democratic, secular Palestine for all is very sensible and fair.
Sure that’d be great. It’s just that, well, secular is not exactly how they roll down there
I saw an interesting argument a while back that asking for a one-state solution would actually be the best way to get a two-state solution.
Israel is dependent on the West, and in the West it’s pretty easy to mess with the arguments for or against a seperation. It’s just too nuanced and technical. On the other hand, “we want equal rights” is pretty much impossible to openly contradict in any way.
There isn’t a single country on the planet that would lift a toe to force a one state government to give equal rights to Palestinians. No one even does that today for places where there’s already a demand. Mostly because they all know they have their own local movement demanding equal rights and they don’t want other countries to weigh in on that. Everyone’s already stopped caring about UN human rights reports and the likes.
South Africa couldn’t keep it up. Israel is in a much, much more vulnerable position. They need Western governments to not only approve but actively bail them out of a region that hates them.
Yeah there wont be any peace without an agrarian reform anyway. Give back the land.
