Marginalia Search is a small independent do-it-yourself search engine for surprising but content-rich websites that never ask you to accept cookies or subscribe to newsletters. The goal is to bring you the sort of grass fed, free range HTML your grandma used to write.

I made a video on my YT channel this week about google alternatives, and found a site called Marginalia Search, based in Sweden, that focuses on non-commercial content. That choice in this digital ecosystem means you get a lot of weird, old, and interesting stuff when you use it.

    I’ve actually used this a bit. I keep it bookmarked, mostly for cross referencing. It’s nice to see a search engine exists that isn’t explicitly driven by Google and/or paid promotion.

      That’s rad!

      I only recently found it when I was researching my video, but yeah, I really enjoy it. Sometimes when I’m ideating for my journaling or video ideas I’ll use the ‘Explore’ page and browse a bit. There’s just so much interesting and unconventional content out there.
