I loathe “both sides” false equivalencies, but I have to say: It’s not that Democrats are necessarily smarter or better. It’s that conservatives actually seek this shit out. They need to be the victim, but they also believe they (and other white males) are the smartest and best. So they are easy prey for scams and false conspiracy theories. They are always seeking to have their bigoted views confirmed, whereas the rest of us largely listen to science and trustworthy sources before making our minds up.
Nah, anecdotally I’ll tell you I’ve never met an intelligent conservative who wasn’t a ruthless self centered psychopath that wasted most of their intelligence probing others for weaknesses and internalizing slights and grudges.

They also NEED to be validated by someone with higher “social currency.” A hot twenty-something blonde is, to them, that very thing. It’s also why the right both loathes and craves Hollywood.
Also Democrats tend to have a higher proportion of post-high school degrees. While that’s not a guarantee of being smart (I went to college with some DUMB people who managed to graduate–all happened to be business degree students with a right-leaning bias, fwiw) it does suggest a higher concentration of people who’ve engaged with critical thinking.

Studies have consistently shown the further right wing you are the dumber you are on average.
Also in my experience right wing people tend to lack a sense of irony and are more fearful.
