I think we have to entertain the very real possibility that most of these judges are under duress. I bet some of them received a few pictures or videos of themselves or their family members during candid moments…

When I found out my GF was being unfaithful in high school, it damn near killed me. When I found out the exact same thing of my SO at age 22, living together, I felt like you do now. Indifferent. I did feel betrayed and I did leave her (duh) but emotionally, it never really registered the way you would expect it to. I assume this is a human self-preservation mind trick that the “lucky” ones among us experience in these harrowing situations.

Regardless, my condolences. I know no one died, but eventually it will feel sort of like it.

I honestly believe VH will be the first because of his “audacity”. I 100% hope to be wrong though.

Monetarily, I’ve only donated to Wikipedia (and intend to do so again). Apart from that, I sometimes buy cat food for local cat rescues when they need it.

I try to personally help and heal any animals I come across that need help, no matter what kind. Wish I could do the same with people but I’ve been backstabbed a few too many times.

I consider this a win. They’ll slowly bleed users until all that’s left is the fodder we really don’t want to interact with anyway. Besides, with 4chan’s demise, something tells me the trolls will mass migrate to Reddit.

Hmm, good point. Before, it was probably in your best interest to cooperate since rule of law meant there was at least a chance you’d get your day in court. At this point, people have nothing to lose when ICE approaches them. Might as well go all out and take as many as possible with you.

It’s definitely that. I have had the “honor” of being IP banned for over a year. Any accounts associated with my ip (and there were quite a few) were nuked. I never posted anything worse than run of the mill criticism like I do here on Lemmy but I never kissed any mods’ rings either.

If he actually believed it, that would be bad. But he doesn’t. He and all his family are vaxxed. That’s much worse. They’re just perpetuating the lie which keeps droves of uninformed idiots voting for them. At the cost of the lives of innocent children. But they won’t lose a night’s sleep over it.

This was glaringly obvious from the get-go. Since there is no established legal route for anyone sent there or to Gitmo to ever get out again, the only way to exit is in a coffin. That’s why they won’t bring back Kilmar either. They want to establish that this is only ever a one-way ticket, no exceptions.

This administration invalidated everything. Most people were already well aware that keeping your head down and working hard was never going to lead them anywhere, but they’ve done away with all pretense now. Qualifications don’t matter, only unwavering loyalty to the rei-uhh, administration. At this point we have to assume no one is qualified for whatever roles they were selected for.

At least the Rockefellers and Carnegies of the world actually spread some of their wealth around by doing charity.
