Sure. Keep telling yourself whatever you need to justify all these losses every day. The left is cooked. There’s no coming back from this. It’s not the fault of the billionaires or the Trump’s or Nazis. It’s the fault of the left for giving it all up and being so unappealing that those assholes could grow and capture the people the left alienated

It doesn’t. We need results. Not morally hand wringing. We can do that after we get back the culture
You’re going to learn quickly in the coming years that these facts aren’t going to prevent you from getting punched in the face and thrown into a cage. I don’t think this guy is a Nazi or listed the Indian war as some kind of back handed reference to that. But I do think there’s no amount of loss you can suffer that would ever make you realize how badly people like you have fucked everything up the past 10 years.
Where did he say killing civilians

1·2 months agoAdvertising works by getting under your radar, introducing new ideas without bothering your conscious mind. Extensive scientific research shows that, when exposed to advertising, people “buy into” the materialistic values and goals it encourages. Consequently, they report lower levels of personal wellbeing, experience conflict in relationships, engage in fewer positive social behaviours, and experience detrimental effects on study and work. Critically, the more that people prioritise materialistic values and goals, the less they embrace positive attitudes towards the environment – and the more likely they are to behave in damaging ways.
Even worse, findings from neuroscience reveal that advertising goes as far as lodging itself in the brain, rewiring it by forming physical structures and causing permanent change.
So not sure what your experience is in marketing but in my experience and from research I’ve looked into, it isn’t just convincing people what they already know. It works to change views through repetitive messaging.
So to sum up. I think you’re wrong. I think the left is wrong because they feel like you do and are really missing something that the right have accepted for a long time. They’re playing chess and the left don’t even understand they’re even playing a game.

1·2 months agoYou didn’t answer my question at all. Why do companies and celebrities and people who are powerful and who have access to the best and brightest minds pay so much for an online presence?
Ads work. Majority of them you don’t even realize are ads. But they work. People like you on the left are so oblivious to this stuff. I don’t get it. It’s so obvious and you all just keep refusing to see the answers right in front of your faces.

If it’s terrible for changing minds, why is there so much money invested into advertising using it?
Are these massive professional companies ignorant to something and like wasting billions on useless tactics?

1·2 months agoYou’re not reaching critical mass because of protests. You’re reaching critical mass because people are communicating and sharing content that highlights what the Trump government is doing. The protests success resr on how effectively the left has shown his corruption and not just shown but marketer the messages enough to convince people to pay attention

I’ve said this after every major protest the past ten years. But yes, I’ll say it again and again and again.

14·2 months agoIt’s not true. Nobody outside of leftist groups or media care about this. It’s not out of trying to maintain fear or concern about erosion.
There’s nothing that comes from these protests anymore. We’re in a digital world. These analog solutions don’t work anymore. You need digital solutions. You need a network and digital presence to spread anything you do like this. But we all removed ourselves from any digital spaces so there’s no need for the right to prevent anything. They know this even 24hrs ago. We’re all back to work. A lot of people didn’t even realize this was going on.

It’s so funny you have one of the largest protests in history but it’s like you all are starting to realize you forgot a key part of any of this.

924·2 months agoRemember when unions and everyone were fighting against automation. What are you shocked at here?
The North American right and left both have become extreme Luddites over the past decade. What result did we expect? Lots of people said decades ago that we’d be left in the dust.
AI is the next field that we’re doing the same thing on. The general population keeps getting influenced to hobble itself on new innovations and then we’re shocked we’re getting surpassed as these innovations continue to develop in other countries?
I think it’s similar to how immigration is maintained as a key target on the right. It’s a right leaning issue. On the right the topic of immigration is made out to be a bigger issue than it is. Because it serves a purpose to pass new laws and actions that people normally wouldn’t support.
You need to think about it for even a minute. The right have a lot of invested interest groups online. The left do not. There is a lot of money being used to push messages and ideas across the Internet. Lemmy isn’t a tiny digital space. These groups that target Reddit are going to be here on lemmy. They don’t target moderate Lemmy they go for the dumb radicals. The ones with more passion than brains. That is .ml
So these issues are left positions in the same way immigration concerns are a right leaning issue. But they’re strategic left issues that when pushed serve the goals of the invested interest more than it helps the left. Places like .ml are being groomed to become the poison pill for the next election cycle. They’re drip feeding them right now. It’ll ratchet up over time.
Do you think groups on the right were behind things like walkaway and bernbros?
Astroturfing is when groups deceptively create content in digital spaces to manipulate and influence those spaces to believe a movement or initiative is derived from a grassroots or organic origin. The goal is to move the group whatever the vested interest wants them to be.
I bet you were going to argue Lemmy isn’t on anyone’s radar because it’s so small and we’re all just super grass roots and organic.
Every accusation is a projection
