Under (maybe) a different President. With a chance he’d end up safely back in his own country, not a Salvadoran death camp. I’d roll the dice.
I don’t know where you live but in California, the crows are native species.
Edit: so if they eat a sparrow they’re defending the environment
Considering the homegrown was probably 70% ratshit, I’m not sure if it was really less dangerous. And of course there was always the risk of an explosion taking out the whole neighborhood. I really don’t see any good aspects to meth either way. It’s not the import-export problem so much as the meth problem.
Those of us who really do like you understand why you don’t want to come now. Because even if you are visiting a blue state you still might encounter Trump’s thugs at the border. Or ICE could get shooed away from a LAUSD elementary school and decide to randomly grab you off the street outside. You stay out and stay safe, spend your money locally.
In case you’d like to support:
Agree about the name change. They get a monthly pittance from me, it’s not changing although I do think I get good value from them since my alarm radio wakes me up with Morning Edition. But I might look into finding a station in an underserved community to give to.
So disappointed!
I had read the headline as meaning:
By cutting Defense Department programs, Hegseth will reduce civilian casualties.
But obviously I should have known, because GOP=fascist asshole.
Depending where you live, your local station may take a bigger hit percentagewise. Not mine, because both Pasadena and Santa Monica have lots of people who listen and can give. But it’s the NPR stations in red states that may need most help and be an important source of sanity. If you give to your station, they can chip in their bit to NPR at large.
The percentage varies among local stations. In Santa Monica there’s probably more local support than in an Oklahoma town.
Oh come on, can’t we use the Trump Train highspeed rail? Counting on it being so shoddily built it falls apart on the first trip.
The Catch-22 to that is it gives Trump and the GOP the excuse to declare martial law, as they’re already itching to do, hugely extending the power of their autocracy.
Better to protest in peace and ignore the parade. Just drawing a larger crowd and some good media attention will troll him enough. Concentrate on signs showing ways the money could have been used for good.
Certainly don’t sell now. You’ll soon be seeing the combined pressure of the moneyed on Trump, and he’s nothing if not chaotic anyway. “Strategy” is just what he calls his whim of the moment. This may not be the end of the dip yet, but the whole tariff scheme will fall apart and stocks will rally. You could, without touching anything right now, take a look at the stocks that your fund is made of, and see if you want to make changes for ethical or practical reasons, so you’re ready to do so on the upswing. But let the big money investors throw their weight around first.
Mostly because we’re stuck supporting the red states that suck at the Federal titty.

Most vegetables and fruit not imported from Mexico are grown in California. Enjoy your scurvy.
Texas? Unlikely
Part of growing up is challenging the ideas you got from your parents and learning to treat people with the respect you’d like them to use with you. If she wants to continue being friends she needs to do this part of growing up.
