Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Other than money, what's something you would want an unlimited amount of?
3·4 days agoNuclear weapons. I’m in charge now and I’m here to right the ship.

Lemmy Shitpost@lemmy.world•Save me from going down a dark path
11·6 days agoYeah, like being held in captivity and tortured endlessly. That’s worse than death. I wouldn’t really say becoming religious is on the same level as Guantanamo Bay.

41·6 days agoYeah sure I agree but also that has basically nothing to do with my comment

2·10 days agoThe book is called “The complete stories” and it’s all his fiction other than his novels. My buddy lent it to me, I’ll probably pick up my own copy when he wants it back if that says anything. The Burrow was a story from the perspective of what seems to be a mole, his meticulous process of planning and constructing his burrow, and his endless anxieties related to defending it. I loved it.

10·10 days agoMost recent image I took. Was reading The Burrow by Kafka and realized my train stop was coming up and I didn’t have my bookmark.

politics @lemmy.world•‘They feel true’: political deepfakes are growing in influence – even if people know they aren’t real

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•If you woke up a billionaire tomorrow, what's the first thing you'd do?
2·13 days agoOK how about this actually… All the money came from deleting the existing billionaires from reality.
Alternate premise would be “What if everyone in the world would give you anything or do any service for you for free, feel good about it, and be enriched by it in whatever way needed for it not to be exploitative”

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•If you woke up a billionaire tomorrow, what's the first thing you'd do?
3·13 days agoThe premise is like… magic or something, dude. The premise is not that you are a philosophical zombie and gain billions of dollars through actual capitalism only to one day suddenly gain sentience.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•If you woke up a billionaire tomorrow, what's the first thing you'd do?
5·13 days agoCompletely squandering the endless possibilities of being the first billionaire with a soul

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•If you woke up a billionaire tomorrow, what's the first thing you'd do?
5·13 days agoI’d probably put an entire university worth of professors on payroll, along with an army of neurodivergence specialists to make it so I could actually make use of them. If I had functionally infinite money I could become so fucking gigabrain. The saving the world stuff should go without saying since we are all ensouled beings unlike the ghoulish husks who actually have billions of dollars.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•If you woke up a billionaire tomorrow, what's the first thing you'd do?
31·13 days agoGood for you man super virtuous and all but that’s not the premise
I don’t think any natural thing exists for a reason. That’s reserved for things made or at least caused by sentient beings.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What do you think about power stations?
5·13 days agoHandy at times but worse value overall compared to a regular UPS
In order to believe complements one would first have to receive them
I think this obviously implies that your brain is getting reset each loop, in which case you wouldn’t be aware of anything repeating.
