I never thought I’d hear myself say this but I wish speed limits were enforced again. Traffic stops dwindled off during Covid and never seemed to recover. I’ve watched people run red lights and go 20 mph over right next to cops and nothing happens. The highways around where I live are almost unusable, if I’m going 5 over and move into an empty left lane to pass, there’s immediately a Tahoe going 30 over right on my ass.

I’ve found that where cost of living is lower, wages are also lower, and I’m still broke.

I’ve been extremely fortunate to land in an industry I enjoy where I make a bout this much, and can confirm, single income in a relatively LCOL area, things are tight.

I saw a meme or something a while back that said to eliminate billionaires, every cent over 999 million should be taxed at 100%, we could give them a little plaque that says you won capitalism and they’d still have more money than anyone could spend in a single lifetime.

I’m still figuring out where to start on community, my social life peaked in high school never recovered. All the old civic organizations and churches seem to be dying off.

I wish I had learned this nuance earlier. I started out throwing all the money I could at whatever I was trying to pay off as fast as possible because I had it hammered into me as a child that all debt is a personal moral failing.

I’ve since learned that having cash on hand and a relatively low interest loan like a mortgage or a car loan, is better than a slightly lower balance on said loan and having to use a high interest credit card when an emergency inevitably pops up because I didn’t have any cash.
