  • It could go that direction, or could go toward forcing otherwise unwilling people to join the military through a program that pays off student loans. This program looks pretty limited, but it looks like it has all the linkage to be expanded to be more generally applicable to more people:

    College Loan Repayment Program (LRP)

    Summary

The Loan Repayment Program (LRP) is a special incentive that the Army offers to highly qualified applicants entering the Army. Under the LRP, the Army will repay part of a Soldier’s qualifying student loans. Only specified Military Occupational Specialties (MOSs) qualify for the LRP.

    Benefit Highlights

The Army will repay 33 1/3% of the outstanding principal balance, less taxes of the Soldier’s student loans annually or $1,500, whichever is greater, after each year of service (up to $65,000, less taxes) up to three years total. Loans must not be in default before entering active duty, and during the repayment process

  • At the time, Dr. Steven Hotze, the sole trustee and beneficiary of the Braidwood Management company, said he was unwilling to pay for PrEP or STI screenings for his employees. “They are consequences of a patient’s choice to engage in drug use, prostitution, homosexual conduct, or sexual promiscuity – all of which are contrary to Dr. Hotze’s sincere religious beliefs,” the complaint read.

How about rape, Mr Hotze? Do patients that contract STIs when they are the victims of rape deserve to just suffer even more with STIs after their attack? How about the victims loved ones? Do you expect them to shun the victims of rape if they contracted an STI from it?

  • “Hiddenday”

It would be a day locked away from everyone’s consciousness until the day’s arrival. You’d be expecting your normal 7 day week, and go to bed Sunday night. Then the day after Sunday you’d wake will full knowledge of Hiddenday and everything you’ve ever done on prior Hiddendays. You’d already have a plan and knowledge if you were choosing to go to work to earn extra money, if you’d be staying home resting just a bit more, or going out to spend time with friends or family. You’d go to sleep on Hiddenday night knowing you’d forget the specific details of what you did that day ( but that you’d have that knowledge back next Hiddenday in 7 days). You’d wake up Monday morning remembering yesterday was Sunday, but you’d have any knowledge you accumulated the hidden day prior. If you worked and are paid hourly, you’d see an extra 8 hours of pay on your payslip, and no one would ever question why there were more hours. You’d carry the same rested feeling you had going to sleep on Hiddenday night but not know exactly why. Your family would tell you how much they loved spending time with you this week, and you’d feel the same, but you couldn’t put your finger on exactly which day that happened.

We’d all go to work on Monday thinking how wonderful it would be if there was a 8th day.

  • The tact taken by this administration isn’t trying to amend the Constitution, its to simply ignore it. There are three branches of government in the USA. trump’s Executive branch and the Legislative appear to be in nearly lock-step in ignoring the Constitution and their duties to uphold it. The Supreme Court has capitulated in almost every action trump’s Executive has asked, with only minor pushback. The recent 9-0 Supreme Court decision requiring the trump administration to return of Ábrego García to the USA is the first real pushback we’ve seen. So far trump is continuing to ignore the return requirement.

In other words, the Constitution is worthless if the bodies in power charged with its defense choose to simply break their oath of office and not defend it.
