And with AI sinking its claws in… I can only imagine how rough the ride will be. There is still good content out there, there is just more trash to sift through to find it.

I bought the latest of some devices earlier this year, but didn’t have cash to buy a completely new PC. I’ve decided if my older desktop breaks, I’ll just have to get a “cheap” laptop & install Linux. Hopefully things stabilize within the next few years as manufacturers shift production.

I will admit, I can maybe tell if a video is AI and can listen when something is AI (the way it speaks and the formulaic feel are dead giveaways for me), but often cannot tell if written word is AI. I am not looking forward to its technological improvements… 🫠

And it fucking sucks. I’ve been getting my resources from non USA government sites or my state health board (since that information is still reliable).

A few months ago, I did a fresh install of Windows 11 with no access to any personal files, etc, all done on a separate drive. After seeing all of the changes, I am glad I haven’t used it since. Holy moly.

The reality is, anyone can gain that kind of wealth by their 40s/50s if they are financially literate at a young age. You can make a median income and still come out a millionaire if you invest even a small amount consistently from late teens/early 20s. Bernie is an old man, so anyone his age that did that could easily be a multimillionaire without trying too hard, even with a middle class income. Now, I’m not sure how he obtained his wealth, just saying that millionaires aren’t all evil or born rich, in fact most didn’t come from wealth.

The main issue with many Americans not getting that far is poor financial literacy. Most don’t figure it out until their 30s, so they end up behind. Obviously, I won’t include those who were born in poverty as that is a whole other issue and is very difficult to overcome.

Due to the current administration’s shenanigans, states are needing to step up anyway. States came together to get the COVID vaccine out to their people, and to help one another track illnesses. I can see more cooperation like that in the future if the BS keeps up (which it most likely will). My state is already trying to figure out alternatives so we don’t have to be so dependent on the federal government.

For those who do get paid very well, I wonder why so many can’t afford even one month; many experts suggest a 3-6 month emergency fund (I know the median paid American can’t really do that these days). Now, I understand everyone has a different situation, but I always find it strange when so many who are being paid very well for years don’t have even a month’s worth of expenses.

I think this non payment situation is inexcusable though and even well prepared individuals cannot do this forever. Something will have to give.

Businesses, institutions, and even the government itself all **require** the use of VPNs to remain secure. VPNs are vital to functioning IT infrastructure everywhere.

This is the first thing I thought about. Bills like these always allow for vulnerabilities that would affect the entire nation, themselves included. It’s extremely short sided.

Nope. Even though I can pay my bills, I still need to be able to save for other emergencies and have some fun.

As others have already commented, not everyone can just leave. Also, if we could all leave, who would take so many USA immigrants?

Agreed. People are forgetting how the USA was created. This isn’t new. Targeting “illegals” has happened more than once before. If things actually implode, it could hopefully become an opportunity to build a fair society; one where white (elite) supremacists aren’t actually in charge.

I have IBS, GERD, anemia, & food allergies. I’ve seen medical professionals over the years and their recommendation is to eat anything & everything I can that won’t make me sick. I pretty much eat the same thing nearly everyday & most vegan protein sources make me sick.

I’m all for lab grown meat as well and hope it’s affordable & safe within my lifetime.
