I wasn’t allowed to go off grid in my previous home where I had solar installed either. There was also a hard cap on the amount of solar I was allowed to install. Both of these rules were put in place due to lobbying from the largest power company in the region (Duke Energy in my case). It totally sucks,
For real, this just further cemented me not wanting to buy any new Intel devices.
Maybe I misunderstood the prompt, I wasn’t taking it that we’d have no nationality at all. Generally speaking, most pieces of land tend to be claimed by a nation with maybe Antarctica as an exception. Alright then I guess I’d need to add a “desperately try to acquire citizenship or get my current boss to pay me under the table” step :)
Nice. I also wanted a DAP that didn’t run Android and I ended with the fun and ultra gimmicky Mixxtape (you can use the device itself as a cassette tape). It was only $60-ish, so don’t expect top tier build quality or interface, but I am pretty happy with it.
It’s still the best Windows music app. It is one of the only things I miss from Windows.
“Second brain” is a term that has been around a while, but it does get used by a lot of people that are all in on AI these days so i totally see your skepticism. My issues with these second brain/knowledge base/etc tools is that I never end up going back to them to actually look up knowledge. Maybe that is why the AI people are all over it, because most people never use the actually notes they make. Either way, I found it best to just stop using the tools or leave myself semi-structured text notes with good file names.
I work from home, so I guess I can stop paying taxes? It’s not like I was thinking I’d get a real retirement anyway.
To be fair, there wasn’t really much “gaming news” in existence back then. One only heard about game flops when it became so notable that regular news picked it up as was the case when E.T. and well the whole existing console industry when Atari imploded.
No, we shouldn’t remove it ffs.
I think we are living in the Star Trek universe, but we’re just getting to the Bell Riots shown in DS9. No word on if we get much past it.
Yeah, as I said, it is a wacky gimmick, and it does work. My teen kid got a big kick out of it and at the insane price some of the new artists have been charging to get their music in cassette form, it pays for itself in less than three albums if I already had them digitally.
I will say again that it is a $60-ish portable music player, don’t expect $1000 Sony gear build quality or interface. I specifically didn’t want some sort of Franken-Android DAP, which most newer dedicated music players are, so it worked out.
It’s not particularly high end, but I fairly recently bought a Mixxtape MP3 player for $60 new and it works well and can play as a cassette. The gimmick is wacky (but does work), but I mostly got it because I had to switch to a phone without a headphone jack and I wanted something small and inexpensive.
Just throwing it in there that none of my Fiio DACs or amps help up over time, especially with the more portable models. Maybe the build quality is better on their higher end models, but I’m definitely not buying any more of their stuff.
Sorry, I don’t recall the actual specifics now. I believe it was something like they made it a code violation to not have your home connected to the power grid and you just get fined and harassed until you “fix” it.
