There are some people that are in the positions of power they are in because of the inaccurate world views they hold. There are “morally good” people that uphold the structures of power (but rarely those with actual power) because they genuinely believe they are doing what is good for humanity.

Hilary Clinton is not one of those people. She is not “stupid”. She is a genuinely morally bankrupt human being.

I think the claim is supposed to be that the parts of it that makes Israel look bad are what’s fake. Like the proof of them bombing civilians, or of their soldiers having called shot sniping contests on literal fucking kids. She seems to be claiming that we’re seeing fake videos that are showing Israel killing civilians rather than the dangerous Hamas militants they are and it’s brainwashing us into being anti-Israel.

Sometimes the elderly have trouble adapting familiar concepts which have changed. She thinks of Israel as this small democratic state of people returned to their ancestral homeland beset by enemies from all sides, like under the leadership of PM Rabin, she can’t process the new information that Israel headed by a brutal ethnic cleansing dictator is trying to kill off 2 million people, majority women and children, to create beachfront property.

Exactly. Trump didn’t win by courting centrists. He energized entirely new voters (albeit with racism).

Democrats insist that perpetually leaning further into corporatism and imperialism and abandoning marginalized groups like trans people and immigrants will win the “likely voters”.

A real winning strategy would be to have policies that actually inspire people and turn out new voters.

That would assume they actually want what they say they want though, instead of being controlled opposition.

Really it’s corporate Democrats trying to court corporate donors. It has close to nothing to do with this being the policy to win over voters. Imo, it’s why the corporate Dems need to be primaried out by progressives.

A corporate Dem is still a marginally better than having Republicans in office, only because they’re focused on personal greed rather than personally causing the pain.

Corporate Dems care enough that you’re not starving, but not enough so that you’re not living out of your car or relying on the government for some of your needs. Many of the Corporate Dems probably do care to an extent, but green is what matters most to many so if you have a pulse it’s okay!

I’ve literally seen videos of children’s bodies being carried with a missing head, having bullet holes through their face, or having mangled bodies. I’ve seen videos of Palestinians trying to get food while getting shot at and hiding behind rubble. I’ve seen videos of civilians getting shot right in front of their children and hit with bombs while minding their own business. And I’m so tired of seeing people in suits up on a stage without a care in the world saying “it’s not that bad” with a straight fucking face at every single thing going wrong in this world.

It’s the flaw of hierarchial power structures. They always calcify to serve themselves. Not the people they’re supposed to serve. Look at North Korea and China assisting Russia’s imperial machinations in the Donbas and Crimea. None of them (all similar power structures. Not just the ones I named) are our allies.

Here’s a longer version that gives a little additional context to the quote:

“A lot of the challenge is with younger people. More than 50 percent of young people in America get their news from social media. So just pause on that for a second. They are seeing short-form videos, some of them totally made up, some of them not at all representing what they claim to be showing, and that’s where they get their information.”

This does not make her look any better, especially when the deaths as reported by legacy news are undeniable. They literally require cult-like levels of self delusion to think killing thousands of kids and leveling a city isn’t objectionable.

The true cowardice is that they’re doing genocide denial instead of admitting that “the 2 million Gazans isn’t enough.” The only way you think this is acceptable is if you think Israel doesn’t just deserve a homeland, but ethnostate. That the Palestinians are just like the native Americans, “in the way of destiny.”

I think the problem is more that 80% of older Americans get their news from Fox, as well as the fact that 95% of Americans think everything can be dumbed down into a 30 second video and their opinion after watching it carries the same weight as someone who spent a lifetime studying the issue.

And yes Hillary always has been a pretty terrible person. But Trump is so so so much worse.

I’m sure some videos are staged or focus on the worst tragedies in the region, but I have yet to see any footage that paints Israel in a positive light. So it’s either a genocide in real-time or they’re making existence for all in Gaza so miserable that Hamas surrenders. Neither action is tolerable.

You don’t get 3 or more major parties in a fptp system though. The system itself is only capable of supporting two parties at most.

The voting system needs to first be changed on a state level in every state ideally, or at least most of them, so people need to start putting a lot more effort into state elections.

if the fptp voting system dictates that the two most similar parties should merge to fight the third least similar party. In that case we should start an actual leftist party so the two parties on the right can merge and absorb eachother.

It’s more that the actual leftist party will take votes away from the liberals, but not the full-on nazi party. Meaning that you’d end up with something like 15% new leftist party that nobody dares vote for because it’s new, 40% dems, 45% repugnants and now the 45% is enough for them to win, whereas previously maybe it would’ve been 55% dems.

In fact, to win an election under that system, it would be beneficial to start an even more right-wing party, because that would take votes away from the GOP. But at the end of the day, it takes a couple of election cycles for 2 dominant parties to emerge and the most extremist ones are typically the ones to lose as people unite under the more centrist banners. That’s how you get republican and republican lite, where really a lot of people would prefer a socialist party and a lot of other people would prefer a national-socialistic workers party. They have to meet in the middle and get two parties that are somewhere between the two polar opposites.
