This should be the sticking point to invoke the 25th. Officials need to be loud and make a stink about how Trump can’t tell fact from clear fiction and therefore cannot perform the duties of the office. Make the people of America see the image on the news everyday and make those on his side say out loud if they think it’s fake or real. Half of the masses will never be convinced that he lacks the morality to lead until they’re already in his camps. This is the earliest clear as day moment to act on that which cannot be held to subjective scrutiny or partisanship.

If you guys didn’t watch the interview it’s (to no one’s surprise) fucking embarrassing. Terry keeps trying to move on while remaining firm and Trump just sits there being an argumentative shit because Terry refuses to budge. Good on him for keeping his journalistic integrity, and another pile of dicks to Donnie boi to suck.

I’m not trying to defend the guy at all but those tattoos are not exclusively used by neo-nazis whatsoever and come from the Christian crusades originally. It’s the Jerusalem cross.

I will also say that that drusen cross has been used in some Neo-Nazi symbolism along the way so it’s not really a get out of jail free card either.

“It’s cool guys, this swastika on my chest is totally just a hindu symbol.”

“I’m just a history buff, even though I have literally shown zero indication that I give a shit about history in any other context”

There is no point in giving context here. The context is a lie. It’s literally the definition of a dog whistle.

            Edit -

For the record, so nobody misses the point in all this back and forth - yes, someone might wear a jerusalem cross and not be a fascist.

But that’s not what’s happening here, is it? He’s a fascist. He wrote a book called American Crusade in which he called for ripping the arms off his enemies and feeding them to hogs.

Crusade imagery - to him - is violent. Even if it isn’t a symbol of hate to you, it is a symbol of hate to him.

The symbol has a real history but has also been hijacked by fascists. What evidence do I have for this? Plenty, down below! But what more do you need? He’s Exhibit A.

Can’t be a nationalist with a 3rd-grade understanding of history. As we all know, only historians get a tattoo of “We the People” on their arm.

Since none of you actually bother to learn anything here’s your spoon feeding session:

The Jerusalem Cross is a Christian symbol, also known as the Crusader’s Cross, consisting of a large central cross (a cross potent) surrounded by four smaller Greek crosses. It is often interpreted as representing the four Evangelists and the spread of the gospel, or the five wounds of Christ. The cross is closely associated with the Kingdom of Jerusalem and the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre. Here’s a more detailed look: Symbolism: Four Evangelists: . The four smaller Greek crosses are often associated with the four Evangelists (Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John). Spread of the Gospel: . The arrangement of the crosses can symbolize the spread of the gospel to the four corners of the earth. Five Wounds of Christ: . Some interpretations suggest the five crosses represent the five wounds of Jesus on the cross. Jerusalem: . The Jerusalem Cross is strongly linked to Jerusalem, particularly the Latin Patriarchate and the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre, which are dedicated to supporting Christianity in the Holy Land. History: Crusades: The Jerusalem Cross gained prominence during the Crusades, particularly with the founding of the Kingdom of Jerusalem. Latin Patriarchate: It was adopted as the chief banner of the Latin Kingdom of Jerusalem and is now the emblem of the Latin Patriarchate. Order of the Holy Sepulchre: The cross is the official emblem of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre, a Catholic order dedicated to supporting Christianity in the Holy Land. Modern Usage: The Jerusalem Cross continues to be used by various Christian organizations and is also found on the national flag of Georgia and some other Christian contexts. In essence, the Jerusalem Cross is a rich symbol of faith, the Gospel, and the Holy Land, with historical ties to the Crusades and ongoing relevance within various Christian communities…

Oh sick! I too can put together a technically correct wall of text justifying a symbol ruined by fascism that has no initial fascist roots:

The Hindu swastika, known in Sanskrit as svastika (स्वस्तिक), is an ancient and sacred symbol that predates many modern religions and is deeply woven into the spiritual and cultural fabric of Hinduism. Etymologically, svastika is derived from the root “su” (meaning “good” or “well”) and “asti” (“to be”), together forming a word that can be interpreted as “that which is associated with well-being” or simply “auspicious.” The swastika has been used in the Indian subcontinent for over 5,000 years, with archaeological examples appearing as early as the Indus Valley Civilization (c. 2500 BCE), long before its appropriation in modern history.

In Hinduism, the swastika is a symbol of auspiciousness, prosperity, and good fortune. It represents the eternal nature of Brahman, the ultimate reality or universal soul in Hindu thought, and the cyclical nature of life, death, and rebirth (samsara). The symbol is deeply connected to cosmic order (ṛta) and balance. It is often drawn during rituals, festivals, and on temple entrances, doorways, and sacred objects to invoke divine blessings and protect against negative influences. It is also a common sight in Hindu weddings, religious ceremonies, and housewarmings, where it sanctifies the space and denotes sacred intent.

Understanding the Hindu swastika requires acknowledging it as one of the world’s oldest sacred symbols, one that has long represented cosmic harmony, divine presence, and the pursuit of spiritual well-being. To reduce it solely to its modern misappropriation is to obscure millennia of profound spiritual meaning, making it essential to distinguish and respect its original, deeply rooted cultural context.

Now let’s all go tattoo swastikas on our bodies; you go first!

I know the context. It’s still a lie. People with that cross on their chest don’t give a shit about its actual history. Dog whistles involve barely plausible deniability, like the distant origins of nazi symbols.

If you read you’ve probably heard about a little something called “Occam’s razor”.

What’s the most probable answer, that a far right news host from a far right news channel is sporting his tattoos as a symbol of his love of history and the holy land, or that he’s sporting them because he’s a fucking nazi.

Nobody is denying your “history” of the symbol. We’re all well aware of the “larger story”. But it’s irrelevant because there’s an approximate 99.99999% probability that the guy who doesn’t understand the wider history of the cross is the guy that’s fucking wearing them.

You can write a thousand paragraphs “teaching people” all you want, but it’s totally irrelevant in this situation and you are only doing it in order to obfuscate the issue with meaningless nonsense.

There is nothing wrong with categorizing symbols that are used for white supremacy and ethnic cleansing crusades as being “Nazi”.

You don’t need to be a German soldier in the 1930s to be a Nazi. These types of “technically” corrections are not helpful and just play into doubt for people that don’t understand history. Like yourself apparently.

Modern day Nazis aren’t tattooing swastikas. They’re running our businesses and our country.

And a swastika represents “good fortune” and “well-being” in Hindu and other Indian cultures, concepts I would support, but I still wouldn’t get it tattooed on my body because of it’s other meanings.

If this guy is ignorant of the more recent meanings, that is just as troubling as if he knew their modern interpretations. If someone had elaborate Nazi imagery all over their body, and they were truly ignorant of the meanings, I would not think that they possessed the intelligence and judgement to supervise any people or projects.

Whether he knew about it or not, it’s a problem, and this guy is in charge of the Pentagon.

“Ne desit virtus” is the slogan of the 187 infantry regiment of the 101st Airborne Division. It means “Let Valor Not Fail”. That image above that slogan is the unit patch.

We infantry dudes usually have tattoos like this, nothing “Nazi” or “Fascist” about it.

However, as an enlisted grunt, the infantry officers, like Major Hegseth, are a different breed.

It’s Latin for “God wills it” lol used in the first crusades.

Hegseth is Christian. What do you expect? He himself said he’s a devoted Christian. Even attend Jimmy Carter’s funeral in a church with those same crosses.

I’m aware of the far right uses of the cross and some of the phrases.

Other than the book he wrote about the crusades, none of these posters have provided any proof that he’s a fascist Nazi.

It’s very suspicious. I wouldn’t say it’s incriminating evidence, but I would call it supporting if there were other fasc-y things about the individual.

Which there sure as fuck are.

But I dunno. The guy is either wearing a white-supremacist dog whistle, or he is super into the crusades (which famously went very well /s) which should disqualify him from leading the military either way.

I’m not a big Hegseth fan, I just want to make sure no one is talking shit about his army unit tattoo. Or misidentifying his army unit tat as a neo Nazi symbol. Cause there’s been a few of those already. I know that’s the least of everyone’s worries, and I can understand the accusations with the cross, cause every grunt I know has some kind of military tribute type tattoo.

People have died wearing that patch and shouldn’t be categorized as a “neo Nazi symbol”.

I know the cross has been the main focus, but like you said, he’s either a devout Christian history buff or he’s just a plain fascist.

While I agree maga is end stage facism the GOP has been selling out the working class, escalating racism, pushing sexism, attacking unions, attacking civil rights, destroying worker protections, stealing elections, gerrymandering, bowing to corporate interests, destroying the social safety net , starting illegal wars and cutting taxes for the uber wealthy since Reagan. All these failed republican policies account for the entire national debt and then some when added up.

I really wish some of these reporters would dig in and challenge him. I get that its uncomfortable, but that’s your job.

    His questions should have been:

    • Do you think he has MS13, marijuana, smile, cross, skull tattooed on his hands? And not added with Photoshop later?
    • Are you saying this combination of tattoos is a code to identify him as a member of MS13? Because gang experts have cast doubt on this interpretation.
    • How many other MS13 members have this exact combination of tattoos on his hand? If its a sign of being a member of the gang, others should have it as well.
    • Do you think a vague and symbolic tattoo is proof of belonging to criminal organization?
    • Does this make your Secretary of Defense a white supremacist? Because he has numerous tattoos associated with that ideology.
    • Do you have any real proof Abrego Garcia is a member of MS-13? And if so why did your administration appeal his protected status in 2019?

Fully agree, however, the press has done that before and he just shuts down the question with some remark about the reporter and if they press, he walks out. Aside from physical restraint, I don’t think we will see him submit to any real questioning.

Then do it. Grill him until he walks out. Over and over. But they won’t.

I am really sick of the “mainstream media,” which is supposed to be so liberal. What passes for “journalism” these days is appalling.

When the El Salvador dictator met with HitlerPig in the Oval Office, Pam Bondi said that a plane could be sent for Garcia, but it they couldnt do it because they had no control over the landing in El Salvador. Then Trump said it wasnt up to us , it was up to El Salvador, and we couldnt control that. The the El Salvador dictator said that he couldn’t “smuggle” Garcia back to America, and he had nonl right to speak for another nation, and that it was a preposterous question.

And that was the end of it. Not one “journalist” stepped up with indignation, and said “Lets end this charade! Literally EVERY, SINGLE PERSON in the entire world that is required to make this decision is in this room right now. Nobody has to say, ‘Sounds good, let me run it past the bosses and get back to you.’ The people required to make this happen on both sides are literally sitting right next to each other. Why can’t you look at each other and agree to make it happen?” And then pushed them to cut a deal, or not, in front of the entire world.

The reporter who would have done that would have become the most famous journalist in the world at that moment. It would have totally changed the trajectory of their career, but not one of them did it. They seem to think that their job is to provide a platform for the MAGA Nazis to spew their propaganda, unchallenged.

And perhaps that is exactly their jobs, as demanded by their owners, who are Sociopathic Oligarchs and Corporations who have donated to HitlerPig’s Inauguration fund.

Trump kept insisting: “No, no: He had ‘MS’ as clear as you can be, not ‘interpreted.’"

      That is astonishingly—but unsurprisingly—stupid.

It’s one thing to insist that tattoos of a weed leaf, a smily face with “x” for its eyes, a cross, and a skull are pictographs for “M S 1 3”. It’s another to be such a dumbass that you think the superimposed text trying to explain that interpretation is the tattoo.

OK, to be fair, it’s not 100% clear (because it’s Trump) but it’s certainly one way to interpret what he said:

“We’ve ended the war on beautiful, clean coal. and it’s just been announced that a second, brand new coal mine where they’re going to take out clean coal — meaning they’re taking out coal, they’re going to clean it — is opening in the state of Pennsylvania,” Trump said.

“He clearly doesn’t know what he’s talking about,” said Pieter Tans, the lead scientist of the Global Greenhouse Gas Reference Network of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration in Boulder, Colorado.

“It sounds like he thinks that they’re going to wash the coal,” Tans told ABC News. “It doesn’t make any sense.”

So just to be fair, whoever made that tried to illustrate that the 4 symbols - in their imagination - represent “M S 1 3”. Which in itself is ludicrous. And even if they did, that’s still no reason to deport him.

Anyhoo, Trump’s reply when someone dared try to explain this to him:

“That was Photoshopped? Terry, they’re giving you the big break of a lifetime. You’re doing the interview. I picked you because, frankly, I’d never heard of you, but that’s OK,” Trump said. “You’re not being very nice.”

This is everyday tyranny in action. It’s also very dumb and very delusional. Louis XIV levels.

How is this farce still going on?

But then, just yesterday I learned a little about El Salvador and their idiot president. Who am I kidding. As long as the people go with it, it’s possible no matter how ludicrous. I still say it’s social media algorithms that got us here.

You didn’t highlight the best part of that interview, and something other journalists should start doing, he handed tRump his own ass and never looked or sounded flustered or worried about the results of the interview. He asked hard questions, even some that sounded dumbed down to help tRump’s feeble brain understand.

The best part was shortly after this quote, I think, where tRump said how something might not happen, like completing the rest of the interview, and the dude straight said, “we will.” The look on tRump’s face was like a parent hearing their kid tell them “no” for the first time. But he didn’t say anything more. It was a glorious example of how to deal with a bully.

tRump can’t handle direct confrontation to his actions. He gets pissed and, if he can, tries to leave the scene or, like this interview and the debate with Harris, he’s stuck and has to do the whole thing or look like a baby. It’s why his only push back is digital or when the other party can’t rebuke him. He’s a coward who, like most conservatives, can dish it out but can’t take it. He relies on his base to do the tough guy stuff and uses his platform to rile them up.

What is weird is that his wife did censor a photo of his hands in on of their photos recently. I feel like this is an easy thing to prove. Who knows. But we should be a bit more skeptical. Not just of Trump but our own sources.

Why the down votes. If I’m wrong on this, let me know. But let’s not bury our heads on things.

Even if MS13 he should have due process. That process is where all these questions get answered. Without it we have this shit show. But let’s not let our political vibe cause us to not question things or be skeptical. Nobody should dig in on an issue and deny based on vibes

That could be it but I don’t know if that explains it well enough. She doesn’t owe any one that doubts her anything. But also she could shut it down with the original photo. Any of it really. If they’re saying these are cover ups, why not show a timeline that proves these weren’t covering anything up.

What pisses me off is how often I listen to sources on the left that will frame everything weirdly. Then I’ll bring it up and I’ll have someone on the right pull out details they were purposely left out on a story originally. Then I look like it up and sure enough the person on the right are correct and the left focused corners aren’t talking about half the shit.

I’d just like to see less bullshit from everybody. But it’s driving me that even though bullshit is higher on the right. We’re not far behind and it’s getting worse.

Birthers claimed for years that seeing Obama’s long form birth certificate would alleviate their citizenship concerns. Spoiler: it didn’t, they moved the goal posts.

Once people are identity-level invested in something being true - in this case that deportations are about public safety and not racism, because no way could they or people they respect be racist - sinking time into producing evidence for them is futile. It is no longer about facts, it’s about identity. Sometimes people break out of these self-imposed mental prisons if a main trusted person who helped lead them there loses their trust for an unrelated reason (not one that had become identity-latched). Sometimes being welcomed into a different community that fulfills those identity needs will let them see their previously identity-latched falsehoods as false. But evidence is always futile.

Being invested at an identity level is a human trait, not a Republican or MAGA one. It’s not “lately”, it’s all of human history.

We all readily recognize the blind spots in people we consider part of an out-group. Becoming more aware of the blind spots of people we consider fellow in-group members, and especially in ourselves, is more difficult, but I believe important to strive for. Having blind spots is natural. Recognizing them and trying to compensate for them in our thinking can benefit decision-making.

In the case of “are the tattoos on this guy’s fingers MS13-related”, there is way more substantive discussion to be had than demanding the guy’s girlfriend dig up and share publicly a years-old couple’s picture without the emoji. Some quotes below if they are of interest, and the article has a picture with the full fingers and their tattoos fully visible in case that really was what you were going for. https://www.cnn.com/2025/05/01/politics/abrego-garcias-tattoos-explainer

“I see a bunch of symbols that could be interpreted any number of ways,” Jorja Leap, a University of California, Los Angeles professor who has served as an expert gang witness in court, told CNN.

…“These are definitely NOT MS-13 tattoos,” Thomas Ward, a University of Southern California professor who spent years embedded with MS-13 researching the gang, and is the author of an ethnography that studies MS-13, said in an email.

…While some gangs will opt for more low-profile or ambiguous means of identifying members to evade detection from law enforcement or rival gang members, MS-13 tattoos, according to Leap, aren’t exactly subtle. They are used to market the gang’s brutality.

“MS-13 members have tattoos that say ‘MS-13,’” Leap said. “They’re not head-scratchers; they’re billboards. There’s no ambiguity.”

I appreciate that. And I’m not saying she should do anything. But I am saying we should be asking hard questions ourselves. Regardless if he is ms13 he deserves due process. Saying that, we should know if any parties are lying or hiding things. It does not look good when someone is playing games and we collectively reinforce those games.

No, but people do realize the ms paint wasn’t a lazy attempt to manufacture ms13 on his hands. They were referencing what the finger tats stood for. This was kind of why I got a bit frustrated with the truth here. It seems a lot of people realize trump did think the letters were actually there. But there were also people who don’t realize the letters were a reference, they weren’t a lazy photo shop attempt.

I think what does matter is how we approach these things. We shouldn’t refuse to ask questions or be skeptical. We should be comfortable to ask if there is information being hidden. It’s dishonest to refuse to investigate and ask questions out of a fear of what the truth is. It makes us so look bad when we collectively ignore key information. It’s is important if he is a gang member. That doesn’t mean he doesn’t get due process. But it’s information that if one person refuses to accept, they will look dishonest as if they’re playing a game

I had a long drawn out argument with a guy who insisted that HitlerPig was saying that the “tattoo” was just labelling his other tattoos, despite his original post clearly calling it a tattoo, and multiple sunsequent statements insisting it was a tattoo.

Obviously it wasn’t a tattoo, and this guy was insistent that HitlerPig never claimed it was, when he did, over and over, and here he is, still sticking to it.

The point is that these people believe whatever nonsense they make up is the truth, despite all evidence to the contrary.

“Dont bother me with facts, my mind’s made up.”

The real reason he will justify this bullshit like that is because he has to admit hes racist otherwise, “if hes brown I want him gone from my town” basically. Ask him if we should be deporting white right wing gang members based on their tattoos and show him cropped photos of Hegseths tats.

Holy shit. I thought this was clearly intentional propaganda targeting the very extremely dumb that would take the mistaken impression from it without any of them being on record saying the fake part, but did no one tell him?

I think it was created as a markup to explain why they thought the ambiguous tattoos were problematic, I hope they would have assumed no one would be stupid enough to think he literally had tattoos that managed to be flat perfect text in pure black in a photo.

But it turns out Trump is literally that stupid. Or it is convenient so he doesn’t have to field answers like “where’s some corroborating evidence to back up the claimed meaning”.

Of course all of this is almost beside the point. We shouldn’t be doing this in the court of public opinion, it should be in front of a real judge and if deported it should be in compliance with orders that he be deported to anywhere but Salvador, and even if someone deports to El Salvador, we shouldn’t just directly deport straight to a prison that may not even have anything to do with country of origin.

Trump’s advisor situation has gone from yes-men to North Korean sycophant fairy tale land. If those around him saw he thought it really said “MS13” then I doubt anyone said a word, and instead probably just fed into it.

Honestly I’m curious how the hell skull is even supposed to symbolize 3. A cross meaning one because “one true god” is a bit of a stretch too but the skull?

I think it’s because skull is cráneo in Spanish and so it starts with C, which is the third letter of the alphabet

That’s how conspiracy theories work. Mostly with dumb shit

I mean, gangs use symbology in their tattoos all the time. Same with Nazis. I’m not saying that’s what his tattoos mean at all, it’s just that such tattoos absolutely exist and are common.

              If there’s any quick 3 facts about MS13, they’re:

              1. The gang itself has its roots in El Salvador

              2. They are particularly brutal compared to their rivals

              3. They are very open about membership, including very obvious and large "MS13"s pretty much everywhere

It’d be like if the Hell’s Angels tattooed “Hell’s Angels” on their foreheads.

Explanation that I saw was that there are three holes - eyes and nose - in the skull. You know, besides the gaping mouth.
